Got a DS on a 2-unit elective and an H on LRW (a 2-unit writing course). International, Asian. General corporate w/o specific interests. No prior work experience. 1L summer at a magic circle firm's Asian office. Any chances for V20? V30?

Also, for NY biglaws, is the NY vault ranking more telling wrt. firm selectivity than the general ranking?

If you convinced a "magic circle firm's Asian office" to hire you as a 1L, then you shouldn't have a problem getting a job.

Vault ranking is not telling of anything. I have no idea what Ropes and Paul Hastings, for instance, have done to earn their high standings.

As to selectivity, your law school career services office should have all of this information, and you can ask upperclassmen for an idea of how selective the firms are.

Class size is more telling than anything. People get offers with straight P’s at V30 firms. If “V30 NY corporate” is your goal, consider your EIP experience to be stress free.
