Application timeline for 2L-3L hiring?

Hello all,

I wanna preface this by saying I'm really only hoping to get responses from people who work on hiring teams at firms, people who have been through the process and have emerged successful, or people who know people who have emerged through the process successfully.

I was wondering what the appropriate timeline is to send out applications to big/medium sized firms for 2L->3L hiring (so, basically for hiring out of law school, sans summer associate position). I've heard at the beginning of August is the right time to begin this process, but have others heard/done anything contrary to that?

I got a biglaw job through 3L recruiting--applied in late summer (probably August), interviewed in end of September or early October, got an offer by early October. I think this was a pretty typical timeline. It's a time when firms get a sense of whether they will offer to their entire summer class, if every summer will accept an offer, if certain practice groups forecast a need for more associates, etc.

I also know people who got biglaw or midlaw jobs late in the fall of 3L, around November
