Does anybody have any suggestions for firms that are looking to hire 3Ls? Preferably in the South.

What would be the grade cutoff for a position like that? Assuming mid t-14 & summer SA.Anonymous User wrote:DPW NY always looking for 3L’s to assign directly to the credit/finance group.
You should be fine. Grades matter more if the candidate didnt have an SA/coming from lower ranked school.Anonymous User wrote:What would be the grade cutoff for a position like that? At bottom 10%, it’ll be tough. Are you going to be/were you in a specialty group?Anonymous User wrote:Mid T14, GPA bottom 10%, SA at a mid-size firm. Do I have chances?
almost certainly not. Def try, but dont get your hopes upAnonymous User wrote:Mid T14, GPA bottom 10%, SA at a mid-size firm. Do I have chances?
It seems like they’re expanding. If you’re into doing private funds or whatever, I’m sure they’d consider you.Anonymous User wrote:^^Different anon then the above wondering about K&E Boston. I was asking because I'm interested to see if its hiring 3Ls.
At a mid-t14, around median, URM.
Also interested in this, clerking but not super happy about where I summered. Had a 4.0 first year but graduated with a 3.76 (sick/lazy 2L basically). Mid T14.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone know if they look at 1L grades mainly or overall grades?
Dude, a 3.76 still puts you well within top quarter at every T14 I know of. Add a 2L SA and clerking on top of that, and I think youre gonna be just fine...Anonymous User wrote:Also interested in this, clerking but not super happy about where I summered. If you can't get a job in this big law boom economy, not many people can. Why would they look at just 1L grades if you have other grades? That makes absolutely no sense. I don't get why you guys would even ask that question.Anonymous User wrote:Also interested in this, clerking but not super happy about where I summered. I'm basically having coffee/lunch with all the contacts I have with people from the firms I'm interested to work and inserting during the conversation that although the firm I'm currently SA'ing is a great place, I'm looking for a change next year.Anonymous User wrote:Timeline/strategy for looking at other firms after SA?
Same experience here. Only people from my T6 last year that managed to get 3L offers either did a 2L SA, had top grades by the end of 2L, or had significant pre-law school connections at the firm they got a 3L offer at.Anonymous User wrote:Don't mean to be a downer, but it was super hard to get a 3L position when I tried two years ago. The only people from my T13 who pulled it off were kids in the top 25% of the class or URMs. You shouldn't go in expecting much -- it'll be much easier to lateral later on
