I’ve just been offered by a biglaw firm to join as a lateral associate, which is contingent on two partner references from my current firm. I think I have a Ok (but not great) reputation but generally worried that partners may sabotage my offer... and obv I would be screwed if offer gets rescinded cuz of bad reference

has anyone had to deal with this?

People leave all the time and many firms have rules that state that they won’t give a bad reference.

Why would they try to sabotage you?

Maybe just being paranoid. My last reviews were mixed so a bit nervous but I get that they really don’t have real reason to screw someone who’s leaving.
