Sorry for the political post. I'm a 1L who wants to work in biglaw in DC after graduation. I am considering the White House's Internship Program for this summer, and I would only participate in the internship if offered a spot with the Office of White House Counsel.

Politics aside, and given the polarizing nature of the current White House, can anyone who's involved in the recruiting process shed any light into how this internship would look for OCI? If you saw an applicant with an Office of White House Counsel internship on their resume, would that be a net positive or negative mark on their application? Thanks in advance.

I am extremely adverse to this administration's politics and I'd see it as a positive. However, I'm not sure that would be universal. And, it certainly would raise some questions -- some people might give you a chance to address it and some might not and just make assumptions. And if you affirmatively seek to address those issues you'll have to do it delicately because you don't want to seem like you're being overly political or trashing your employer (even for an internship) and the interviewer might even be a supporter of the administration. So, it may cause you some issues. In my book though the positives absolutely outweigh the negatives even in this White House.

Not worth the risk. If this was any other administration, no problem. But with this one, it surely will be held against you by some/most.
