Associates at Baker McKenzie are outraged based on the tips we’ve received. The firm conducts reviews in late February and early March, and associates are learning, to their shock and dismay, that the firm changed its bonus requirements without adequately informing attorneys, leaving them with 50 to 80 percent of the bonuses they worked all year to earn.
Sounds awful. Any Baker associates with perspective on this?

I've been considering lateraling and had been putting together a list. Will be taking Baker McKenzie off that list. Messing with bonus requirements after the fact is a really strong sign that something is wrong at a firm.

Same. It's not about the money, it's about what this says about the firm w/r/t health and how it treats its employees.

I'm a tax associate who would potentially be interested in it because it has a strong tax practice, but won't consider it given the overall quality of the firm.

Maybe it has something to do with opening their new LA office.
