Currently working at a mid-sized firm doing coverage work, but I've always had an interest in doing this. I've heard the hours are much better too. How does one break into this with no experience in the field?

To sit a CCB (Compliance Certification Board) exam, you need experience. Unless you can translate your current employment (of which you need at least a year) into something that meets their requirements, certification will be difficult.

I'm not sure if there's other accrediting bodies. Otherwise, you'd need to either break in to the market with just your JD or to try and secure an internship to get the relevant experience.
