Pending Lateral Offer But Waiting on Another Firm

I am on the verge of receiving an offer to lateral to a new firm in NYC, but am waiting to hear back from a firm I interviewed with almost one month ago. I like both firms, but I would ultimately like the firm that I am waiting for do to compensation, the work, and its larger. Should I tell the slow firm that I am expecting an offer or wait for the offer to actually arrive before I tell them my situation?
