How long do 1L callbacks usually last?

Hi all,

I'm trying to schedule a phone interview and some networking receptions around a 1L in-office interview that I have coming up. Any ideas on how long these kinds of interviews take? If I have a 9am in-office interview at one firm, would it be safe to schedule a 3pm phone interview w/ another firm? Sorry if this is obvious - new to this!

Yep, you'll be fine. The length of the interview will vary based on how many interviewers you meet with (it'll probably be 3-5 people for 20-30 minute slots at a time), but you should be done by noon and probably a lot sooner. If they give you the option of going out to lunch afterwards (not sure how common this is for 1L callbacks) it might run a couple of extra hours, but you'll definitely be good for a 3pm phone call.

It obviously varies some by firm and office, but most morning CBs (particularly at big firms) conclude with a lunch around 1:00-1:30.

You can always ask their recruiting for a rough schedule of events though just to make sure.

Most firms you either start with lunch and then have interviews (~12-4) or have interviews and end with lunch (~9-1). Some like Cravath though can take most of the day.
