Big Law or In-House Position?

Interested in any thoughts on choosing a post-graduate career. Traditional big law position at a major law firm or in-house counsel position at a major Fortune 100 company? The salary for both is comparable.

The conventional wisdom is that it's harder/slower to climb the career ladder in-house and you often have to move companies a few times to make it to or close to the top. That also means that if you spend 5-6 years at a firm and then move in-house, you are likely to move in above someone who started in-house straight out of school 5-6 years ago.
On the other hand, in-house is considered a more humane lifestyle and is coveted by many junior lawyers, so lots of people will tell you to take it if you can get it.
Depending on your area of specialization, the actual tasks you perform at the two jobs can be pretty different, so one may appeal to you more.

Easily in house if comp is comparable. It's hard to find a good in-house position when you want to jump back in 2 years.its true that you might move up the ladder slowly but you can just jump from one inhouse to another for pay bump. Easier to move around once in the game.
