I want to take both clinic and externship, but if I'm doing both, which take a lot of credits, I won't have enough eligible credits to graduate with honors (my GPA is still high though). Does it have any consequences in my legal career? Should I not take the clinic/externship so that I can get the extra prestige?
2L, T13, with V100 offer. No intent to clerk. Want to go in-house after 5 years if not sooner. Thanks.

Nope.

ETA: It could give you the slightest bump on a lateral application, but even then . . . nah.

Idk, it looks good on your profile and adds some legitimacy. Maybe you get a matter here or there either internally or externally because you have the credential over your career. Don't know what that's worth in the short term though.

For "honors"/cum laude I probably wouldn't go out of your way to secure it. Yes, it could make a difference at the margins, but so could the experience you'd get through clinic/externship. But high honors/magna/summa might change my calculus.
