Why not ask other summers/recruiting? You'll get an answer much faster and more fruitful than here.

ETA: I stand corrected.

My understanding is that we begin Mid-September and will go to training either in NYC or Chicago depending on group for a week.

Not sure where the October date is coming from. Our office (not NYC or Chi.) had all the first years there mid-September.

I still don’t understand this. Why wouldn’t you just email your recruiting person? Other ppl have made threads like this in the past and I don’t get it.

I'm a long-time TLS lurker / K&E associate who basically created an account to say STOP IT. You'll start in the fall. Show up to work on day 1, then go on a 4 week vacation. Nobody will ever notice. You're welcome.

Just curious what happens during those 4 weeks? I'm another 3L joining KE after summering at a different firm, so not quite in the loop.

I was actually joking (though only somewhat) that you should literally take a vacation. You'll have one week of orientation / training, another week of training in NY if you're corporate, and then it just generally takes several weeks to ramp up on matters. This last part is certainly not specific to K&E, though I think it's definitely on the more lax end of the spectrum in terms of making sure you have hours in your first year.
