Lateraling to SF for Patent Lit

The question is mostly for those who are in Patent Lit in either Big Law or well-known boutiques: When it comes to experience, what do firms expect from and look for in lateral applicants when they are looking for attorneys with 3+ years of experience? More specifically, what needs to be highlighted for someone who has had almost 3 years of experience in all realms of IP law, including patent prosecution and litigation?

ok i'll bite:
1. EE/CS background, preferably PhD/MS. Else, at least science background.
2. Strong law school grades--summa/magna, Coif, LR--and preferably high-ranked law school as well.
3. Federal clerkship, preferably ND Cal, or lateraling from biglaw/top patent boutique. Short of this, you'd want impressive legal experience far ahead of your class year.
4. Something on resume that screams Bay Area ties.
Though SF is a small legal market, they always seem to be looking to hire patent lit candidates, but they'd wait to hire the right ones.
