Leaving NYC Biglaw for Smaller City - Thoughts?
I'm a relatively junior corporate associate at a firm in NY. I have an offer from a 40-60 lawyer office of a large regional firm where my family lives that I'm considering taking. It's in a "desirable" city (ie. Ashville, Boulder) and the pay scale starts around 140k for first years (I haven't seen what it would be for me yet, but I imagine it's a condensed scale) with an hours target around 1850-1900. Feel like it'd be reasonable to make partner at a place like this if that's what I end up wanting. My debt situation is in check, and I really don't like nyc corporate biglaw. Any drawbacks? Worried about losing exit options, but I guess not so worried about losing "prestige". Thanks everyone.
