How to tell firm about offer?

I received a phone call earlier today with an offer, do I have to name the firm that gave the offer or just my timeline to accept? I want to avoid naming the offer firm because I indicated I was interested in different practice areas in my interviews.

No. Just say you have an exploding offer and have to decide in X number of days.

How long do you have to accept? It's weird for you to reach out until you're nearing the acceptance deadline. At that point a simple "blah blah i have an offer at another firm that expires X day" would suffice. No need to name the firm. Don't lie if they ask.
