Hi have offers from Milank and Paul, Weiss (NY). Interested in fund formation, capital markets. maybe m&a not sure. Not interested in litigation at all. Which firm would people choose?

If you're interested in PF or restructuring, Milbank is the way to go. While we do have cap markets and an M&A practice, it's not our strongest and PW is better at those.
Congrats on the great offers.

PW all the way for M&A. While their teams (PE deals) haven't been STB or DPW tight Milbank M&A has never seemed on top of it.

Scott Barshay works at Paul, Weiss so if you wanna do M&A then that's a great place to do it. Fund formation is kinda a weird thing to be interested in as a rising 2L but PW also has one of the top practices in that area.

Paul Weiss is the choice here, unless you have a really strong interest in doing Project Finance. Even then, it's difficult to get placed in the group. The general corporate group isn't one of the stronger groups at Milbank so if you have any interest in doing M&A Paul Weiss is the choice.

Not trying to be a dick, but do you mean Project Finance? That's the prestige group there. Also, the new rotation system gives you a better chance of getting some time in PF --- but you'll also be rotating through two other groups.

Edited- Yes clearly I was talking About projects. My summer the people who landed PF in one of their 3 rotations was heavily slanted towards top tier t14 kids. Not sure if that's the norm but I'd imagine most people rank it 1.

Milbank if you wanna do project finance (dunno why anyone would though plus I heard that group sucks to work for) or committee bankruptcy work. PW for anything else

Just for posterity's sake, there are plenty of awesome reasons to do PF. Also, Milbank does far, far more than just committee work for BR.

Big law is varying shades of misery. Can't shed any light on Milbank , but I have a close friend at PW, and while I do agree that it has strong M&A and fund formation work, it is a bona fide sweat shop where they pride themselves on leanly staffing projects.

List these "awesome reasons".
