3L No Offered by Midsize Firm

Hey everyone. I recently received the news that the firm I was with this summer (around 200 attorneys nationwide) would not be extending me an offer. Only 1 of 5 SAs at our location ended up receiving an offer, when for the past 3 years there had been a 100% offer rate. The director of HR told me that my work was good but not great, and this is what she told the other non-offers as well. I may not have busted my ass until 7pm everyday, but I cannot help but feel like this was some boilerplate answer that they gave to all of us.

I go to a school ranked in the top 20 and am looking for advice on how to move forward. I'm left feeling extremely disoriented because of how much of a sure thing this firm's offer rate was supposed to be. I'm not trying to absolve myself, but am simply left without direction. Any help would be much appreciated!

Talk to your career counselor. 3L OCI. Fall OCI. Mass mailing. Networking (your professors, your mentors/any people you're close to at the firm, etc.). Try non-firm options (in-house, gov, PI).

On any interviews, if (and only if) you're asked about whether you received an offer, definitely mention them no-offering 80% of their SAs this year. And say that there weren't any fit or work product issues (this is true since they didn't mention any fit issues, and told you your work was "good").

Sorry this has happened to you, and best of luck. strawberrieee has covered pretty much what you should be doing now.
