Some of these firms have pretty different real estate practices, so I'd think more specifically what type of work you want to do - STB does "corporate" real estate (such as big portfolio acquisitions for PE clients (Blackstone)) vs. Fried Frank does a lot of the NYC-specific "dirt" work like Hudson Yards.

If you want to leave the door open to M&A and cap markets, STB and Cleary are probably the standouts (PW to an extent, too). So some of this is you deciding how all-in you are on real estate.

Best strategy for you is probably to read up on the practices, ask more questions, do second looks, and see which practice aligns best with your interests at this point.

FF had record years the past two years, wouldn't be concerned about the health of the firm. New chairman and management since '09 (also that's a really long time ago regardless).
