How long after an offer call should it be before I get the official email? I know each firm may be different- just looking for an estimate.
Thanks

IME, I received mine the same day. Probably within a couple hours, tops.

If email, probably same day (or next day if late call). But some firms (ex. S&C) only send hard copies via the post office.

Is it ever worth a follow up if it's been a couple days since a call, or should I just assume something's coming in the mail/they're busy?

You can get a "paper" record of the call by emailing the caller after the call, mentioning the offer that was extended and that your are actively considering the offer.

Is there a reason having hard proof of an offer would be necessary?

Interested in this too. I got a call but nothing since then, other than attorneys who congratulated on my offer.

There is literally no (legal) benefit to having a "paper trail" of your offer because everything is at-will anyways. You or the firm can terminate your offer at literally any point in this process, regardless of what has or hasn't been signed. The only marginal benefits I can think of are:
1) Convincing yourself that you didn't hallucinate the offer call
2) Showing your offer and rescindance email to ATL to "out the firm"

I got a call from Cleary last week and didn't get an email until I asked for one. It wasn't an official offer letter just an email "confirming" the offer.
Other firms have said that they have the offer letter in the mail and are sending a "treat" too. Weil sent cookies, lets see what other firms send lol.

Of all the worthwhile things to stress about, I don't think wondering whether or not your offer was "real" is one of them....
