Working at a firm 3L after accepting an offer

Title pretty says it all. Finishing up my last week as an SA and expect to receive a full time offer. Partner asked me today about my plans for the fall. Anyone have any idea how this would be different than just clerking at a small firm found through a simplicity posting? I'm sure it would be, but not exactly sure how the arrangement would look. Wondering mostly about the substance of the work, pay, etc.

For reference, work is mostly patent pros with some patent lit support mixed in. Mid-sized firm, 50-75 attorneys. Firm is located in the same city my school is in.

Edit- a word.

It would be pretty much identical to working at a small firm. You'd work your 20~+ hours per week, get paid well (or at least better than the local 3 attorney shop) and would build some rapport with your future colleagues. I would definitely take them up on this offer. The only downside is you will have to stay on your game and produce good work (which will be more challenging w/ school going on...but then again 3LOL).

Thanks. Yeah, my guess was that it would be a way for me to get some more experience and make some money, and they get a jump start on training me for a fraction of the cost that it would if I didn't start until I was an associate. Win-win for both me and the firm.
