Offer from midsize firm; what to ask before I take it?

I am currently a junior associate in a large international law firm practicing in a niche sub sector of litigation (e.g., white collar, healthcare, IP). I am in a non-NYC major market. My current salary is not lockstep and salary progression is unclear at best.
I have an offer to work at a midsize firm in the same market that pays market for first years. Salary progression also pretty unclear at this firm. I will be doing general commercial lit at this firm. The reason I sought this firm out is because I want to get away from my niche litigation practice area and broaden my options. I know that this midsize firm is not a lifestyle firm, and I don't expect it to be. The general consensus seems that the people are very good by law firm standards.
Exit options from both choices are pretty shitty. I definitely have a better chance of making partner at the midlaw firm. What else do I need to consider / ask before I decide to leave my current big law gig?
