Gunning for Litigation a Mistake?

2L at T14 bidding mostly biglaw this OCI.
I see myself exiting biglaw 3-4 years out. I love legal research and writing motions, but the TLS consensus seems to be that there are almost no exit options for litigation. That said, I am interested in transactional (specifically M&A, trademarks, and copyrights), just not as much as lit.
Is it a mistake to try to get into litigation given my current goals? Should I bite the bullet and do something i'm less interested in for the future? Is it ridiculous to plan my escape before I even have my first legal job?
Any advice is appreciated.

I don't believe that's the TLS consensus. And if that is the consensus, it's wrong.

I don't see why you need to make this decision now. Tell firms that you haven't decided what area you want to specialize in yet but that you're interested in both litigation and transactional, try to go to a firm that has decent practices in both areas, and then try them both out during your 2L summer before you decide.

What are some of the more common exit paths for commercial litigators 5 years in?

Thank you, this seems like good advice.

Government, smaller firms, limited in-house opportunities (depending on substantive practice).
