Yeah, some summer programs seem to be ending a little earlier this year so it wouldn't surprise me if we began to see reports on this already (although I think the majority of offer rate data/anecdata will come in the next two weeks or so)

OP here. Troutman's program ended July 14. Programs in Atlanta tend to start early and they are only 9 weeks.

No it's not common. That's why it needs to be publicized when a firm does it. People shouldn't go to Troutman that have comparable options.

So Troutman no offered 7 and had the AMLaw "highest biller of the year"? That seems not great

They have to report this stuff on NALP, but yes that is a huge number. They apparently only no offered 2 last year, but if you look at NALP it seems they actually right sized the class to what they were looking for:

This is not a great sign to start the offer percentages out on.

Sucks. Good on you for outing before OCI starts.

Hiring a larger summer class from previous years then no offering that many is a bad sign. People should avoid.

I work at Troutman in the ATL office. We gave offers to 22/25 summers according to an email sent out by recruiting. I have no idea where OP got 7.

Thank you for this. Very interested in this firm and was dismayed by the 7 no-offers.

obviously K&L Gates has a penchant for no-offering a decent number of perfectly good summers. it's particularly bad in its flagship pittsburgh office.

How's the DC office? According to NALP they gave 10/11 offers in 2016. Do they normally no-offer more summers than that?

It's not like three no-offers is much better...

OP here. I deleted the original post because although I heard the number 7 from a Troutman summer, the later anon says recruiting said there were only 3. Regardless this firm no offers people every summer (2 last year). They must intentionally hire more than they expect to take. Either that or they are bad at projecting and don't place much value on maintaining a 100% offer rate. Either way they are a firm that should be avoided.
