Top Law Schools

I'm about to give my notice to my firm I'm quitting. I've worked at a mid-sized firm for about a year out of LS. What are my ethical obligations when I do quit to the clients/firm but particularly the former? Do I have to see things through on my docket that are due within a week? A month? How do firms handle this usually?

Also, bonus question, will quitting on Friday or next Monday will make this process a little more smoother?
