TBH: Johann has historically enjoyed shitting on JD.
FWIW: Last year I was a pissed underpaid JD assoc in the Market - 10k group. This year I'm a happy JD assoc in the Market + 15k group.
It varies, and from what I know of my peers there's a decent correlation between the variation and associate's reputation x hours.
