Candidates have to have post-grad experience so I would assume they're hiring to start whenever the process gets done and you get your clearance.

Candidates will likely be hired to begin working at the Office in mid-summer 2017.

Even better, you no longer have to do any legal analysis if you work there

To the extent you could get this position, would the long term benefits be worth the significant pay cut you'd have to take to leave biglaw? And I imagine that it would be fairly easy to transition back into private practice after a stint at OLC? My understanding is that it is looked at as on par with a Bristow and a maybe a rung below a SCOTUS clerkship? Anyone know what the hours would be like? Biglaw-type hours or more gov't-type hours?

^working in the OLC and the Office of Solicitor General is as prestigious as it gets in the executive branch for an attorney. I'd put it in the same level as Bristow in term of prestige. That said, the only drawback is (not the pay but) affiliation with Trump administration.

Apologies for the naive question but is this a term position? I'm clerking Fall 2018 and would like to see whether they would hire me for a one year term.

I said this as a joke but it should be noted that there are plenty of conservative alums of prestigious institutions who are not bright and willing to shell out OLC opinions justifying whatever

Any movement here, now that the application deadline has passed?

More likely, as far as who gets hired, I'd guess.

Bumping this. Anyone hear anything yet or know what the timeframe for movement on these positions might be?

I heard from a reliable source that they're currently interviewing people.

Anyone know if/when hiring decisions are to be made? Or when they were in the past?

This may be related to a new round of postings (not the one the OP initially wrote about), but a friend has an interview with the OLC this week, so it seems they are in the process of hiring.

Interesting. Have people been leaving, that they are still looking to add?
