Re: Dead Silence from Summer Associate Position.
Yeah just relax a bit. If you're that concerned, email the recruitment coordinator (the staff person, not the partner). Do you need to move to a different city for the summer? Maybe couch it in terms of that--you're trying to figure out your travel accommodations. But you'll likely get an email in a week or two with some basic info.AlexandraHope wrote:I'm such a worry wart, but should I be receiving emails or anything from my SA position? I have not heard anything since I did my drug screening and turnt in my paperwork. (I do not start until May 25th)

Re: Dead Silence from Summer Associate Position.
If you have a reason or need to reach out, you're within your right to do so (preferably to the recruiting coordinator or whomever has been your POC) but yes, this is completely normal.

Did you say this in any of your correspondence with the firm? If so, then I would be concerned.acr wrote:RaceJudicata wrote:Npret wrote:Please don't say "turnt."

I haven't heard of this in California big law (either CA or NY firms).Anonymous User wrote:Disinterested side note: do firms really do this?AlexandraHope wrote: drug screening.

They aren't your new girlfriend, they aren't gonna send you weekly e-mails just to check up on you. You'll get info about first day logistics soon.

Is this a low millennial fear of being ghosted thing?

I know this isn't likely, but say OP did get ghosted. That would be a savage move.

I mean with all of us speculating the legal market may be contracting again soon, this could be the new Lathamed. That way, you can still 100% offer your summers, but decide who will start as summers after some 2L grades and whatever. Could be the next evolution of the market responding to the future contraction and 180.SmokeytheBear wrote:Latahemed savage.grades?? wrote:I know this isn't likely, but say OP did get ghosted. Re: ....
It is a little weird you haven't heard anything. I am also going to be a SA, and they've asked us for background check and conflicts (no drug test). Also asked us to RSVP about some really important firm events, sent the summer list across offices, and asked us for other little things about us to prepare. Have yet to receive the whole summer schedule but was told we will in May. Sit tight or email the recruiter.
