My firm's background check form asks:

Have you ever been found in violation (or are there any pending complaints, accusations or investigations relating to potential violations of) of any rules of professional responsibility, professional conduct, or an applicable ethics code?

Does "applicable ethics code" include student conduct violations such as having alcohol in the dorms while under 21 as an undergrad? I know I had to disclose this during law school apps, but I wasn't sure if the firms also want to know about this since the ethics question quoted above seems more directed at professional conduct.

Doubtful.

No.

Everyone seems to agree so far, but does anybody think "applicable ethics code" should be interpreted differently?

I agree that it only seems to refer to professional conduct. Otherwise, "applicable ethics code" could be broadened to mean any sort of immoral, legal or illegal, act.
