Is reneging in the lateral process post signing of K plausible? Will it F me over to lateral to different firm in different city?

You have a K? Not sure what you signed but generally those papers are as legally binding as a dvd cover. At will employment is the game. They can hire you and fire you the next day because the equity partner saw that your hair was too long.
