breaking into biglaw post clerkship but before first year as an associate ends

So, I've been giving this some thought lately. I'm an associate at a small defense firm in my hometown. While I love my current firm in terms of the people, I'm not crazy about some of the work. I'm also not crazy about my location (smallish city--like 200k).

I started at a ttt and made good grades, like, top 5-6%. Transferred to UT/Vandy and did pretty well, graduating with a 3.79 and near the top 10%. then completed a federal district clerkship (think W.D. La.), (N.D. Miss).

I never pursued biglaw seriously. I'm not sure I even want to leave, but, if I did, how could jump into biglaw, or even midlaw, in a larger city? I've been thinking of gunning for another clerkship, but theyre all booked until like 2019...

Also consider reaching out to your judge's former clerks who are now in biglaw.

I doubt you'd seriously have much problem with your grades snagging something different after your clerkship. Just network and apply? I'm not really qualified to speak, though. Just my gut feeling. I know my firm would love to have someone like you (secondary market).
