This past semester I got a D in a class. I'm going to a 100% offer V10 that asks for transcripts. Will my accepted offer get rescinded?

F bombs get dropped at THE University of Texas School of Law. That's a consensus Top 15 law school right there. Most profs like to find a sacrificial D or F or two or three in every class.Anonymous User wrote:It's still unlikely that your offer would be rescinded, but this will make it difficult for you to get hired by another legal employer in the next few years. Yea your grades matter less when you lateral but they still ask for the transcripts and this is one of the few things that would be a red flag when you're a relatively recent graduate. Our recruiting committee would not recommend an interview to a second or third year lateral candidate with a failing grade regardless of what firm they were coming from. I would go talk to the professor and see if you can't get it to at least a C.
Also, which law schools give D's?
You have to be a really shitty human being--I mean, a real fucker with nothing good going on in your life--to be a law professor and give a 3L an F or D in a class.BigZuck wrote:F bombs get dropped at THE University of Texas School of Law. Good times man. Good times.
Damn, dude. That prof is brutal (assuming the D isn't because of attendance or something controllable).Anonymous User wrote:For lateral purposes, if I still graduate with honors will this be an impediment? This is my first grade below an A- and there is no appeals process at my school.

I don't know Zuck, Vandy is 850 miles away, and it definitely wins that race.BigZuck wrote:The best law school for a thousand miles in any direction, ladies and gentlemenAnonymous User wrote:You have to be a really shitty human being--I mean, a real fucker with nothing good going on in your life--to be a law professor and give a 3L an F or D in a class.BigZuck wrote:F bombs get dropped at THE University of Texas School of Law. Harsh, but fair.Desert Fox wrote:If they derserve it make em run some laps and give them a C
Are you at a T1 school? I'd honestly consider messaging the registrar + your academic/students dean (at the same time) to see if you can know the grade distribution of the course. Something seems off if you never have gotten below an A-. In the message, I'd mention that you've never gotten below an A- at the school as well.Anonymous User wrote:For lateral purposes, if I still graduate with honors will this be an impediment? According to this shady website I found, Chicago is only 986 miles away from Austin.KissMyAxe wrote: I don't know Zuck, Vandy is 850 miles away, and it definitely wins that race.
For someone who's never received below an A/A- and going to a v5, as well. What happened and what should I do to make sure it doesn't happen to me? If you don't mind me asking.tyroneslothrop1 wrote:I wouldn't worry too much. I'd probably laugh if I saw a transcript reading A/A- and then D the first semester 3L. Maybe try and do well and this semester. But you've got top grades and are working at a top firm, so it wouldn't concern me.
Just an excuse to slip in your Ahhhhmazing grades and fat v5 offer? There are only a few scenarios: didn't go to class, didn't study, used a shit outline, simply didn't fill out an answer on the test, etc... it's unlikely OP busted his or her ass, attended every class, crafted a detailed outline and just had tough luck on the exam.BaileyJohnson wrote:For someone who's never received below an A/A- and going to a v5, as well. Pretty sure you have to try to get a D. Like skip 1/2 of the classes, never read, and only read a supplement 2 days before exam to get a D. You might get a B if it's a bad class/semester, but I wouldn't worry about "accidentally" getting a D. You'll know if you're gonna get a D.BaileyJohnson wrote:For someone who's never received below an A/A- and going to a v5, as well.
