Using an LOR from someone you've since had a falling out with

I have a great LOR from a guy I've known for ~10 years. He was an assistant coach on some of my high school sports teams, and later my direct supervisor at the job I worked before law school. Last spring he wrote me two excellent LORs (one targeted at JAG programs, and another for DA's offices).
However, we have since had a major falling-out (I won't get into specifics, but it involves his relationship with a female relative). To state the obvious, if employers contact him for further information regarding the LOR, he could ruin my chances
Do employers regularly follow up with LOR writers? There is nothing unusual in the letter that would require further clarification. I've considered just deleting his contact info from the letter, but I'm worried that would look sketchy. It's been a real pain getting to 5 LORs for JAG apps and I don't know who else I would go to at this point if I can't use this one.
Thoughts?
