Can I be a coast guard reservist and work in NYC big law? Anyone have experience with this?

This is a tricky question to answer.
Technically, yes, you should be able to do this because your firm should not discriminate against you for your military service (I'm assuming coasties are included...).
The problem is that most firms (notice the "most" there) will not be happy with you being absent when they need you the most. So they'll find other ways around the laws. But this is just a risk. It's hard to tell for sure how your specific firm will deal with you.

PM me please. Working biglaw now, and have experience with the military/veterans issues.
