Re: Weird situation
Would they take your case? And can you afford them? My inclination is that they they wouldn't want to take on the legal issue of a current/future employee where that issue is not a firm issue--i.e. malpractice, etc. (and ethically, i'm not sure that they can)

Re: Weird situation
first sentence asks not to be quoted, first reply quotes. lmao
But seriously, OP, why not just hire a firm in the state where the issue is? Or a different firm? I don't really understand why you'd hire your own firm if you think it's at all weird or could be. Just play it safe and hire someone else

Re: Weird situation
If you are comfortable, I would talk to the firm about the issue but not in the sense that you are looking to retain them. Just talk about it and see if they have any references in that area. In the discussion you will probably learn a little bit more about it or get some references advice or names of people who you may want to contact. Who knows what kind of help they might be able to provide if you don't at least bring it up.

Re: Weird situation
There are thousands of lawyers and law firms in this country and you want to retain the one that you hope to work for?

Going to them with legal problems could raise a red flag.

Mostly I don't see why you wouldn't get an attorney in the state where you have the issue, if you were going to hire one.
