The obvious answer is that it will be down significantly, at least in the foreseeable future. M&A is likely to be down significantly as well. Factors in favor of [slightly less decrease in] M&A activity include lower valuations (good for companies with lots of cash sitting around) and the prospect of lower antitrust scrutiny from a Republican administration. Expect overall transaction volume/count to be down tremendously until some solid policy proposals are in place, considering Mr. Trump doesn't have too many out there.
