Lost job after a few months . . . what to do

Let go after a few months at a small firm. Not sure real reason, but was told not a good fit + financial reasons. Firm is willing to give recommendation to future employers, but I honestly don't even want to list it on my resume. Not sure what to do. How do I spin this as I look for employment?

It depends. Are you a recent grad or did you work somewhere else before this firm? How many months exactly did you work? Do you have reason to believe they would give you a recommendation?

Spin it as layoff. Best thing you can do.

I don't think it will be as difficult as it seems. 2 months is nothing. There is no way they could have determined you were not a good fit in two months. No matter what they say. It was a purely financial decision by the firm.
Are you in a small market?

edit: accidental anon, not OP
I would probably spin it as a layoff for financial reasons (firm lost a major client, etc.). I would definitely not mention the "fit' aspect at all. 100% financial decision, firm's hands were tied, they felt super bad about it.

No, it's a decent sized secondary market. I hope it's not a difficult sell. Feels miserable right now.
