Weekend Dress Code

Might be a "newb" question, but I am legitimately curious: what is the weekend dress code? If I normally wear tie and/or jacket everyday, is weekend just a dress shirt and slacks? Or are we talking jeans/button up with some decent shoes? I just started a few weeks ago, and I have to go in tomorrow for the first time on a weekend.

At my firm, which is NYC big law but certainly not one of the tippy top firms, it is literally anything you want as long as it would be appropriate to wear on the street. Like gym shorts, a t-shirt and sneakers is fine.

Worked at a couple of places in LA, on weekends I wore whatever I wanted. If someone gave me crap (no one ever did), I figured I would just say I was out and about and got called in on a last minute emergency.

If I'm in on the weekend, I'm wearing whatever is most comfortable. Usually ends up being sweats or gym shorts, flip flops, and a tank top or t-shirt. No such thing as a dress code on the weekends.

Do you ever show up hung over on the weekends? Is this frowned upon?

I would at least wear a tshirt (not a tank top) but everything else is fine. Flip flops are fine.

In the office now

NYC, v5
Jeans and t-shirt/polo are most common. I'm rocking flip flops, jeans and a t-shirt. No one cares so long as I bill.
My general rule is "Would I feel awkward if my boss saw me wearing this walking down 7th ave at noon?"
Now, that said, if you are interacting in person with client on the weekend I would ask a partner/sr. assc. It varies from suits, to biz. causal, to jeans depending on the client/partner.

Unless a client is in the office, whatever you wouldn't be embarrassed to be seen wearing if other people in the office also came in.

Since we have a gym at the firm, it is not uncommon to see cohorts (myself included) dressed very casual on the weekend.

For sure. I've puked in my firms bathroom before. Wear whatever I want when I work weekends.
