Hey all,

Just accepted a SA position with a firm in LA that will pay $6k/month. Is the general rule that you would calculate that same monthly/weekly salary out for a whole year to figure out base salary upon graduation? Thanks for the help.

Generally yes but not always. $6k/month typically correlates with $160k per year but it's possible your firm bumped associate salaries and left summer salaries alone.

Wut? 6k/month = 72k/year.
I think this poster is confusing 6k/month with 6k/bi-weekly OP.

For large firms that is almost always the case. I know that some mid-size firms and a good chunk of small firms the SA salary is not proportional. I wouldn't expect a much bigger salary than that, but it is possible they pay more once you pass the bar. I know that happened with a few of my classmates at firms on the smaller end

There are some market firms in my area (secondary - $130k start) that only pay $1k/week for SA.

Any chance you can just ask HR or the recruiter? Shouldnt be an issue since salary is a salient factor in determining if you want to work at that firm.
