Which is worse in terms of salary, prestige, interesting work, etc. and why: personal injury or collection law,(i.e. bankruptcy, foreclosures, evictions, commercial litigation, title work, etc.)

How come insurance defense isn't listed.

You are right, I guess insurance defense is the other side of the coin for PI.

Collection law doesn't get you the million dollar verdicts

Yeah, but the clients in PI, so honest.

I don't know, dude. I think clients in any field tend to lie. Maybe there are some more in PI, but there are lying clients everywhere.

I'd say creditor side BK work (but the shitty kind where you do consumer mortgages). Terrible work, terrible pay, terrible firms. But the hours aren't bad at least.

These two always seem to be listed, but honestly, the poll needs to be expanded.
Filing consumer debtor bankruptcies, divorce law, insurance defense, and low-level criminal defense are all just as bad.

Debt collection and it isn't particularly close. Especially if the debt you're collecting is your unpaid attorney fees from your deadbeat clients.

Personal injury has always seemed pretty interesting to me. And you can make serious money if you're good at getting people into your office, or you're a good trial lawyer.

Once upon a time during a college summer I was a paralegal at a firm whose practice was almost entirely consumer debt collection. It seemed like a pretty stable job with 9-5ish hours, but capped attorneys fees meant no one was getting rich, and the defendants were just as often out on their luck as they were legit deadbeats. All in all, pretty low on my list of desirable careers in the legal profession.
