First off, I just want to say I realize this post is premature because I haven't even begun my summer job yet, but I couldn't help but wonder:

I recently accepted a summer associate job at a Biglaw firm in NYC. I'm excited for the opportunity and its not that I regret my decision to accept, but I have never lived in NYC so I am a little nervous I may not love living there. I was wondering if Biglaw firms typically give you the option to choose another office location or if the full time offer they give only applies to the office you summered in. Thanks!

You should've really thought about this before you accepted this SA position, and at worst case at least asked the recruiters at your office about this. Some firms will let you split the summer between two offices, but it's pretty late to get that worked out now.

Usually offices recruit their SA class specifically for their needs of that office only. So I believe it would be very unlikely for you to get the option you are hoping for.
