Are there certain practice area groups that provide more exit opportunities than others? For example, would working in M&A provide more opportunities than Capital Markets, Bankruptcy, Tax, etc.

Any input is appreciated!

M&A does not provide more opportunities than finance/credit or capital markets per se. In any of those three major groups your opportunities will depend on various factors but m&a doesn't guarantee greater client relationships or contact than the others.

The sort of exit options available from those groups will differ from bankruptcy, tax, T&E, or others.

Sorry to hijack but similar question to OP

Do certain corp. practice group allow for easier exit into other corp. practice groups (either lateraling or within same firm)? Ie: Is it easier to go from M&A -> other corp groups., compared to starting out in finance or capital markets? And are some groups harder to break into (ie: if you start off in cap. markets, hard to move into M&A)

How do exit ops in Private Equity M&A compared to Public Corporation M&A?

I'm a capital markets guy, and I think that of the corp groups, it's hardest to break into capital markets (which has a lot more rules and regulations than the other groups). I feel like M&A and leveraged finance require slightly less specialized knowledge and more...stamina...
