Does anyone have experience with
mcguirewoods, particularly the larger offices (Richmond, Chicago, etc.)?
If so, are you willing to share general observations?
Thank you.

Their Chicago office interviewed at my T25’s OCI this year. There were two interviewers in the room, and one of them was a complete piece of shit. If he’s representative of their culture, I’d stay far away from that office.

Not sure if you're at ND but that guy was an ass.

Not at one of those offices. But have had several interactions with other offices. Without any bias about firm loyalty I can say that whatever experience you had is so far from everyone I have ever met. Chicago is a busy office. But I wouldn’t describe myself as a genuinely confident person and the only experiences I have had are with people that they genuinely care about you. Honestly I was tentative about big law in the first place and working at
mcguirewoods has been one of the best experiences of my life. You have to love what you do and be committed to it (like any job if you actually want it to work out) but I literally can’t say anything bad about anyone that I’ve met. From all the experiences I’ve heard from people at other firms I couldn’t dream of working anywhere else. It’s a really humble group of really smart people. And I’m sorry that that was your experience. But it’s the best job I’ve ever had and this is a second career. Just my two cents.

I just accepted a job there today, so hearing this is very refreshing. I'm not at one of their big offices, but seeing these comments made me nervous.
