State AG to USAO

From what I have seen, most AUSAs are from fed clerkships and BigLaw. A very SMALL handful are from DAs. I was wondering, are there state AGs that join the USAO? Is this a common path?

If you're ever in CA AG crim, you'd never want to leave. So at least not from there.

Why specifically CA AG? You'd never want to leave because the job is awesome or because nobody wants to hire CA AAGs?

Dude, that job is awesome. It doesn't pay a lot your first couple of years, but then as you keep progressing the pay is better. Chill but intellectually rewarding. Flexible hours. Telecommuting.
However, I don't think they would be too competitive for USAO. That division handles mostly appeals (all the way to the Supreme Court if your case ends up there), but they do trials very rarely.

It's going to depend on the office. Where I am, there are more former DAs than biglaw people by a fair amount, for a variety of reasons. There are definitely a couple of people from the state AG's office. (They were ADAs first.)
