Which e-mail to use for a lateral move

When attempting to make a lateral move, should a current associate use their firm e-mail or their own personal e-mail when sending resumes or registering with the other firms website? Worried about the impression that gives to the firm that the associate is applying to (oh this applicant is using their work e-mail to find other employment), but on the other hand, lateral moves are common.

What could possibly be the advantage of using your work email here? That makes no sense.

Unless you just plan to drop your firm a subtle hint that you're looking, and are willing to risk getting fired (and your new firm not taking you seriously), there is absolutely no reason to use your firm email.

Yep. Wear a suit to work (especially on casual Fridays), and make sure everyone sees you coming in after the interviews. Let your secretary know that you will be at a *wink* doctor's appointment *wink.*

Not op,

Do recruiters/partners at the new firm you applied to contact your current firm? I have been keeping my current firm off my resume and just stating in my cover that I am at a x size firm in y city. Am I being paranoid?

I'd go so far as to bet no one will consider hiring someone who is being this cagey about their current position.
