Insight into offer acceptance for midlaw/boutique for summer program

This has probably been asked before, but I couldn't find anything.
When a firm isn't listed on the NALP directory; what is the protocol for accepting an offer/what is an acceptable timeline? The reason I'm asking this is because I have a promising biglaw lead that pays quite a bit more that I'm currently waiting on. However, I'd be perfectly happy at the other firm and their compensation is good too.
Essentially I don't wan't to piss off the midlaw firm by taking some time to sit on their offer. If anyone has been in a scenario like this, I'd appreciate any input, but I'd imagine it's pretty fact specific. (I'm just imagining taking 28 days for their offer would have them pretty upset).
