Wondering about technology stipends - I've heard of these, and some of my friends have mentioned their firms give a few thousand for "technology stipends" - what exactly are these?

It is usually exactly what it sounds like. You can use it on whatever you want tech related. That might mean a new cell phone or laptop, or I have even seen associates buy electronic standing desks.

At my firm you get a certain amount per year to spend and must ask for it like a reimbursement. I have heard of other firms doing a larger amount every three years so their associates can upgrade computers regularly.
