I want to do M&A. Concerns in order of importance:
Location (DC preference)
Exit Options (In-house preferred)
Quality of life
Quality of the work
I eventually want to go in house after a few years. I also think Skadden might be more of a lifestyle firm by virtue of the DC culture, but feel free to correct me. Very strong preference for the DC market, but I think DPW might be better for my long term goals even though I don't really want to be in NY. I am also worried of getting no offered or pigeonholed at Skadden because the transactional market in DC is limited and they only have around 8 M&A associates. Also, I'm more of an introvert, so DPW's culture appeals to me more on paper, but I liked the people at both firms equally when I went to visit, and I think I could deal with Skadden's fratty rep. Not sure if Skadden's fratty rep applies to the DC office, or just the NYC office.
I am leaning towards Skadden, but looking for some advice!
Side note: thinking about splitting if possible, and I also have an offer from Skadden NY that I have pretty much written off.

OP here: I met with one junior and they said they did exclusively work for DC partners. I can't offer much, but I imagine working for NY partners would lead to NY hours and expectations.... I don't see why they would treat you better than their their own NY associates, but just a thought.
