Letter of recommendation- when to send

I am applying to a 10 person law firm and the application packet asks for a resume cover letter and writing sample. I have a glowing rec letter that I think would set me apart, especially as a recent graduate. IS it faux pax to send an extra document, especially one such as LOR?
