Top Law Schools

I'm currently a junior at a NYC v5 looking to switch firms. I should note that I have strong ties to the Bay Area.

What are the top corporate firms in SF/SV? I have a strong preference for SF, but I understand that many firms do the bulk of their corporate work out of their SV office. I also understand that it depends on if I want to do M&A, VC, Emerging companies etc.

For now, I am thinking M&A as that is what my background is in, but my ultimate goal is to get general corporate experience such that I am attractive to go in house.

My sense of things is:

Tier 1:
WSGR
Cooley
Fenwick

Tier 2:
Orrick
MoFo
Gunderson
Skadden
Latham
Kirkland

Thoughts? Whether or not the firm has corporate presence in SF is a major factor for me.

I don't actually know that much about the area, but I would think S&C would at least get into the second category, no?

Wsgr associate here. Our SF office is an M&A powerhouse. Cooley also has great SF office.

I know MoFo's corporate department has a ton of NYC laterals and specifically makes an effort to take from my own v5. While they aren't a leading figure in the SV/Emerging Companies scene, I would consider them top tier for general white shoe corporate work to the extent that that exists in the bay area.
