JD/MBA bonus/advance standing
Just curious about which firms pay signing bonus to JD/MBAs? Heard Latham and Goodwin are doing it but how much?

Kirkland gives a class bump (or used to). If they've done away with that, I suspect they at least offer a bonus.

DPW gives a bonus (I think 25k) but no bump

Bump 2021
Any v10’s not give at least progression credit or bonus. And how negotiable is this post-SA.

Re: JD/MBA bonus/advance standing
As of two years ago skadden was giving a year bump for an MBA. Or at least I knew a JD/MBA joint grad who came in getting pay/bonus of a second year.

Curious too - do you negotiate this post-SA (assuming offer given)?

Does it come automatically or do you have to ask? Or is this a firm by firm thing.

Random data point, but a friend from law school got a JD/MBA, but when she lateralled she skipped a class year because the firm she went to credited it. She did not ask for or expect the bump and was surprised. So you never know.

Skadden, Kirkland, STB, DPW, Latham
Not surprising when looking at that particular group of firms.

Add Weil and Cahill to that list of class bump. Also, CSW and Goodwin give 25K bonus.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 6:05 amSkadden, Kirkland, STB, DPW, Latham

Can someone confirm Latham's class bump? Curious to know.

DPW is 15k. Also, just to be clear it's only for JD/MBAs, not for MBAs who later went to law school and are starting at DPW.

Seems weird to me (not that I have any idea — no reason to think this is wrong). Any idea why they do it that way?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 11:11 amDPW is 15k. Also, just to be clear it's only for JD/MBAs, not for MBAs who later went to law school and are starting at DPW.

Don't know why. I have a prior MBA, noticed a bonus for JD/MBAs in the benefits, asked the recruiting about it and they said the policy is bonus only for JD/MBAs. Didn't bother to think beyond. If folks think am leaving money on the table, I would actually negotiate. Do have some leverage.NoLongerALurker wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 11:18 amSeems weird to me (not that I have any idea — no reason to think this is wrong). Same thing recently happened to me at a v10 re MBA prior to law school (was pretty annoyed). Was advised against trying to negotiate, but figure might be able to do so later in a lateral situation.

Cleary 15K one-time bonus. Will let you know if they pay for an MBA then JD.

STB proactively offered my friend a class year bump + bonus without a concurrent jd/mba (she had her mba first). dpw does not offer a class year bump and, ime, doesn't always offer the bonus.
